Hamburg Harbour Happiness

To enjoy the Harbour Festival without being shouted at we stayed well away from the centre, and had a fabulous time. No crowds, plenty to see and, once again, great hosts.
We had met up with Malte and Kira the previous night for dinner at an authentic Ethiopian restaurant which was a very pleasant and interesting experience for us.
The next morning, it was back again for a stroll around the park and down to the Elbe riverbank.
We ended up close to a small maritime museum dock where we were able to clamber through an historic steam tug and to watch the parade of vessels.
The observant amongst you will note the cafe table in the foreground, where we sampled local pastries and pretzels along with excellent coffee.

This keeps becoming a food blog!

As well as the maritime sights, we enjoyed walking past all the riverside houses - all very picturesque.
Kira had to go to work, troubleshooting issues with a massive expo her company was organising, so we swapped Kira for Linda, Malte's sister.

And promptly went to lunch!

Yes, yes, I know this is not really a food blog, but the food we have been having in Germany is just so good!

After lunch it was time to swap Linda for Kira again, and then off to the large inner city lake for a walk, and to dream about living in the luxury homes.
A very pleasant end to our Hamburg adventure. Next stop, Bonn. Will the Bonn cuisine maintain the standard we are coming to expect?

Stay tuned to find out...
