Edinburgh Take 2

The previous day was all about the tourist spots outside the town centre. Today was primarily about the Castle.
On the way to the castle we thought we'd stop off to look at a couple of old churches, as you do, even if only because Agatha Christie got married in one of them.
Alighting from the bus, I noticed directly across the road the Johnnie Walker shop so we popped in to see why they needed such a large shop dedicated to just one brand. It turned out that it sold much more...

The churches, or rather the church yards, brought us back to earth before we assaulted the castle.

Which is huge.
Mary was particularly impressed by the huge cannon Mons Meg, and felt her mother would approve.
The castle, as one would expects, dominates the area, and has spectacular views of the city.
Despite the size, we did not linger too long in the castle.
After a quick look at the Scottish Crown Jewels, of which no photography was allowed, and around the various rooms and exhibitions, it was back down to the bus to continue around the city to case the joint for Take 3.

You may wonder what we did for the rest of the first two days if we didn't spend every waking minute exploring all the tourist destinations. One could say we spent it in training for the final day, which would involve significant physical exercise. And what better way both to get fit and to see the non-tourist sights than this:
